Overwhelmed, Anxious, and Irritable?

Does any of this sound familiar?

You feel overwhelmed, anxious, and irritable more often than not. You sometimes feel paralyzed by indecision, worried you will make the wrong choices. You may find it hard to fall asleep at night as your mind races with anxious thoughts such as:

  • Concerns about upcoming events, life changes, or uncertainties about what the future holds
  • Anxiety related to job performance, deadlines, career decisions, or exams
  • Regrets of past mistakes or missed opportunities
  • Overwhelm from daily tasks, parenting challenges, or balancing multiple responsibilities

Or you might feel you need to be perfect, not to be rejected by those around you. Sometimes you might think you're a terrible parent.

You spend a lot of time thinking deeply about what is wrong, but can’t pinpoint it. You recognize you need help. You just want to be present, relaxed, and happy, but it feels impossible.

  • a future where you can regulate your emotions
  • aren't irritable most of the day

How It Works:

I provide counseling and therapy sessions for women via an easy-to-use, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing platform or in some cases, in-person. I'll work with you wherever you're at-- car, home, park, or at my office.

As long as you have privacy. Oh, and you're located in Alabama or Florida!

Step 1: Consultation

Study after study has shown that the connection between client and therapist is the most powerful predictor of positive therapeutic outcomes. Therefore, I insist that we speak before scheduling your first session to help determine if we are a good fit for one another. During the consultation call, we'll chat about you and what's bringing you to therapy. Then, I'll share with you how I would approach improving your well-being, and you'll be able to ask me anything.

Step 2: Scheduling

If we determine we would be a good fit for one another, I'll schedule your first appointment during your consultation.

Next, I'll securely send you my intake forms and several screening scales to give me even more insight into your current experience so that we can make progress faster. This will also help us ensure progress is made in therapy.

FAQs

Do you see clients in person?

I do not see clients in person, but I recommend trying out the online format; many find it just as, if not more, effective and convenient than traditional settings. Numerous studies support the effectiveness of online therapy, often finding it as beneficial as in-person sessions for a wide range of issues.

How does online therapy work?

Online therapy operates similarly to in-person therapy, except over a secure video conferencing platform. Once you schedule an appointment, you'll receive a link to join the session at the designated time. You only need a quiet, private space, a good internet or cellular connection, and a phone, iPad, or computer.

Is online therapy secure and confidential?

Absolutely. I prioritize your privacy and security. Sessions are provided on encrypted platforms that comply with all healthcare privacy standards. You can rest assured that your sessions and data are confidential.

What if I'm not tech-savvy?

No worries! Our online therapy platform is user-friendly. Plus, I provide clear instructions and support to ensure you can easily access your sessions. And remember, I'm just a call away if you need assistance.

What if I don't have time for therapy or anything else in my life?

One of the best things about online therapy is its incredible convenience. It fits seamlessly into your life, allowing you to connect from your office, car, or wherever you find yourself at a time that works for you. But let's pause and think: what if you delay or never embark on this therapy journey? How might your life appear in three months or even in three years? If you constantly battle to keep your head above water, you're not living the life you deserve. Yet, finding the right therapist can change everything. It's about learning to navigate life's challenges with more ease, effectively managing feelings of depression and anxiety, and ultimately rediscovering your calm and confidence. Often, therapy is the pathway to the life you've longed to lead.

What is the cost of a standard therapy session, and how long are they?

Each 50-minute session is $180.

What is the cost of a therapy intensive, and how long are they?

I provide three and 4-hour online therapy intensives at a rate of $150 per hour. For those seeking an immersive experience, I offer an in-person therapy intensive at a resort in Birmingham, Alabama. This retreat spans two days and three nights, featuring 4 hours of deep-focused treatment each day and an additional 4 hours of mindfulness training over the two days. Will my insurance cover online therapy?

Most insurance providers cover online therapy, but I always recommend you check directly with your insurer. Please note that I only accept BCBS, which does cover online therapy. For other insurance providers, I am happy to provide a Superbill so that you can seek to have a portion of our sessions reimbursed. However, we cannot guarantee that they will be covered.

Why would I consider not using my insurance for therapy?

If given a diagnosis, it becomes part of your medical record. While that might not be such a big deal right now, it may become one later on if you might be in legal proceedings or want to:

  • Get life insurance.
  • Work in the financial sector.
  • Manage other's assets.
  • Regularly handle firearms.
  • Seek employment in any industry where your decision-making might be called into question due to your emotional state.

What would be a reason my insurance provider might not reimburse me?

Insurance providers operate on a medical model, which means they require a diagnosis to establish you have "medical necessity" to seek services and pay providers. A medical diagnosis might not fit what you are going through. Most insurance companies don't consider self-improvement, life transitions, personal development, trauma, or existential issues as "medical necessity" because there are no diagnoses for these in the DSM-5-TR.
